Amazon on Wednesday reported its “biggest ever” Thanksgiving holiday shopping weekend, though it did not provide exact sales figures.
The company said independent sellers generated more than $1 billion in sales from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday.
Overall, online sales rose to a record $9.12 billion on Black Friday and $11.3 billion on Cyber Monday, according to Adobe Analytics, which tracks sales on retail websites.
A record 196.7 million people shopped in stores and online from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation.
The NRF said shoppers spent an average of $325 on holiday purchases over the weekend, up from $301 last year.
The NRF said it expects sales for the entire holiday season, defined as Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, to increase 6–8% over 2021, reaching $942.6 billion to $960.4 billion.
