The LGBTQ community plays such a large part in Hollywood and the entertainment world with multiple sexual orientations being represented. As time has gone on, the representation of gay actors, movie roles and scripts has increased and only continue to do so as the stigma is being diminished and the community can show their true selfs proudly. The LGBTQ community has been an essential part to the entertainment world and the performing arts world.
Gone are the days of same-sex scenes being censored or removed, although society still has a long way to go to be more inclusive to remove the stereotype and stigma. It was also not long ago when A-list actors would not disclose or be open about their sexuality. These actors, comedians, and musicians have proudly stepped into the limelight and we love it!
Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris came out as openly gay in November of 2006, and he wears his sexuality with pride. He began dating David Burtka in 2007 and the couple was married in 2014 after same-sex marriage became legal. The two lovebirds are extremely happy together, and they have twin children via a surrogate. If ever there was a success story of a gay Hollywood couple, these two would be it!
Angelina Jolie
Actress and philanthropist Angelina Jolie has been linked to several men over the years, most recently her marriage – and divorce – to Brad Pitt. Just because she was married to one of the hunkiest men on the planet doesn’t mean she isn’t attracted to women as well. In a 2003 interview, she was asked by a reporter if she was bisexual, Jolie responded, “Of course.”
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
Talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres publicly announced that she was gay in 1997, a time when it was much less widely-accepted by the public than it is today. Her now-wife, actress Portia de Rossi, is gorgeous and the topic of many of Ellen’s personal stories on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Though Portia considers herself bisexual, she instantly fell in love with Ellen when the couple met in 2004. They were married in 2008 and have been living their happily ever after since!
Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent (Annie Clark)
English model and actress Cara Delevingne came out as bisexual fairly recently. Her little-known partner is musician Annie Clark, better known by her stage name of St. Vincent. The couple both have very distinct fashion styles and unique personalities, which makes their relationship exceptionally fascinating. Possibly the most attractive lesbian couple out there, ladies and gentlemen, Cara and Annie!
Harry Styles
Rockin’ roller Harry Styles has always played coy when it comes to the subject of his own sexuality but has always shown his support for the LGBTQ community. He’s always remained secure in himself and isn’t one for labels. In an interview with the Sun, he stated, “It’s weird for me – everyone should just be who they want to be. Being in a creative field, it’s important to be progressive.”
Marlon Brando
Actor Marlon Brando has had his fair share of heterosexual experiences in the limelight, but few know about his interest in the male counterpart. In the biography, Marlon Brando: The Only Contender, Brando was quoted, “Like a large number of men, I too have had homosexual experiences and am not ashamed.”
Sir Elton John and David Furnish
Music legend Sir Elton John announced his bisexuality during a 1976 interview with Rolling Stone before he was completely ready to announce it. Now all of his nerves are gone, as he has been married to filmmaker David Furnish since 2014. The two happy men had a beautiful wedding in England once same-sex marriage became legal, and they now have 2 sons together.
Lance Bass and Michael Turchin
NSYNC singer Lance Bass publicly announced that he was gay in 2006. The boy band hottie began dating Michael Turchin in 2011. Their 2014 wedding made history as the first ever same-sex wedding to be televised on cable TV. Today, the two live extremely happy lives and enjoy their love for each other every day.
Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison
Although Jodie Foster never officially came out as gay or lesbian to the public, she has publicly shared her support of the lifestyle, and has been in more than one same-sex relationship. She dated Cydney Bernard for many years, and even had children with her before they split, but the actress has always been relatively quiet about her personal life. She is currently married to actress and photographer Alexandra Hedison, and seems to be living a happy life out of the public eye.
Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak
Jim Parsons has been openly gay since 2012, and has been in a relationship with partner Todd Spiewak for over 10 years. In Jim’s mind, their happy relationship is your everyday, loving relationship. Though they aren’t married for now, they are comfortable with where they are and are simply enjoying being in love.
Richard Chamberlain and Martin Rabbett
Actor and singer Richard Chamberlain is known as a gay man, but his coming out of the closet wasn’t by choice. At the age of 55, a French magazine outed Chamberlain as a gay man. In 2003, Chamberlain confirmed his sexuality in his autobiography, Shattered Love: A Memoir. He’s had relationships with actor Wesley Eure – his longest with actor/writer/producer Martin Rabbett.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita
Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays a homosexual character on the show AND he is openly gay in real life. Remaining true to himself has never been an issue for him, and he has never seemed to be ashamed. Ferguson is married to lawyer Justin Mikita. Together the two of them created a charity called “Tie The Knot,” which raises money to support same-sex marriages in the U.S.
Ellen Page and Samantha Thomas
Rising Hollywood star Ellen Page is a huge advocate for human rights, especially the LGBT community. She is currently romantically attached at the hip to professional surfer Samantha Thomas. The doe-eyed brunette and the tall blonde drink of water are certainly eye-catching. The couple have been together since 2015.
Anderson Cooper and Benjamin Maisani
The famous CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper is openly homosexual, despite some hardships that coming out has created for him. Since 2009, Anderson has been in a committed relationship with entrepreneur Benjamin Maisani. The happy couple lean on each other for every situation, and they are very committed to making their relationship as strong as it can possibly be.
George Takei and Brad Altman
George Takei: Star Trek helmsman, LGBT supporter, and so much more. Takei came out as gay in 2005 and never went back in. He has been with his partner, Brad Altman, for over 18 years. The couple married in 2008, and they were the first gay couple ever to apply for a same-sex marriage license in West Hollywood.
Robin Roberts and Amber Laign
Robin Roberts, anchor for Good Morning America, announced her sexual orientation in 2013. Her partner is her long-time girlfriend, Amber Laign. Their relationship is especially notable for not only being same-sex, but also interracial. The couple no longer care about such frivolous things as others’ opinions–all that matters is their love for each other.
Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry
Sara Gilbert is openly homosexual and has been for some time now. The actress is well-respected throughout Hollywood for who she is. She is now married to songwriter and music producer Linda Perry. Together they have a son, who was carried by Gilbert.
Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef
Ricky Martin didn’t publicly acknowledge his homosexuality until 2010, when he said on his website “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.” Ricky announced his engagement to Syrian Swedish painter Jwan Yosef in 2016 on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. They are expecting to have a 2017 blissful wedding.
Alan Cumming and Grant Shaffer
Scottish actor Alan Cumming is openly bisexual. He has been married to graphic artist Grant Shaffer since 2007, though only legally married since 2012. The happy couple are far from shy about their relationship, which makes it nearly impossible to not appreciate their obvious love for each other.
Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent
Nate Berkus is an interior designer and host of his own TV show, The Nate Berkus Show. The handsome man is openly gay and has been married to fellow interior designer, Jeremiah Brent, since 2014. Since then, the happy couple have adopted a beautiful daughter, Poppy.
Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson
Actress Holland Taylor has a rather scandalous lesbian relationship going on at the moment. Although they claim to be absolutely in love, there is a 32-year difference between Holland and her current lover, actress Sarah Paulson. Kristen Stewart has proclaimed that she is homosexual, despite giving it a go with Twilight costar Robert Pattinson (before cheating on him with a married director!). The actress is currently dating Alicia Cargile, who works as an effects producer. The two have broken up and gotten back together before, but it looks like this time they might be in it for the long haul.

Sam Smith has been openly gay for a while now. The crooning singer has had a few different boyfriends, but his most recent lover is rumored to be model Jay Camilleri.
Melissa Etheridge and Linda Wallem
Longtime female rocker Melissa Etheridge came out to a largely-disapproving audience back in 1993. Nearly twenty years later, she married her wife, Linda Wallem. Linda is an actress, writer, and producer. Together the two are very happy, and their love for each other is obvious. Power couple indeed!
Wanda Sykes and Alex Niedbalski
Funny lady Wanda Sykes came out as a lesbian at a same-sex marriage rally in 2008. At the time she was already married to Alex Niedbalski. The happy couple became parents in 2009 when Alex gave birth to a pair of fraternal twins, a son and a daughter.
Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer
Country singer Chely Wright came out to the public in 2007 after finally accepting to herself that her homosexuality was not immoral. For a long time she struggled with her sexuality, even trying to cover it up by dating fellow country star, Brad Paisley. Nowadays she has no such qualms or morality insecurities. Her wife, Lauren Blitzer, is now the love of her life and the two women are happy being mothers to their identical twin sons.
Patricia Yurena Rodríguez and Vanesa Klein
Patricia Yurena Rodríguez is a Spanish beauty queen, having participated in the Miss World and Miss Universe beauty pageants as Miss Spain. She is the first openly lesbian Miss Spain. She is currently in a relationship with girlfriend Vanesa Klein, who is a DJ and a musician. The two have been together since before Patricia publicly came out, and they continue to get stronger in their relationship every day.
Lauren Morelli and Samira Wiley
Lauren Morelli is the lead writer for the Netflix show, Orange Is The New Black. She was married to a man for two years before she realized she was truly lesbian, and she filed for divorce soon afterwards. She is now engaged to actress Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey on the show. The two are extremely happy together and fully accept each other.
Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni
Cynthia Nixon is best known for her role on Sex and the City as Miranda Hobbes. She revealed to the public that she is bisexual in 2012. Cynthia is currently married to Christine Marinoni, an education activist. They have one son together, whom Marinoni gave birth to in 2011.
Michael Kors and Lance Le Pere
Michael Kors is a name most people will instantly recognize as a major fashion and accessories designer. He has long been publicly known as gay. He married Lance Le Pere when New York legalized same-sex marriage in 2011. Regarding marrying the love of his life, Kors has said “To marry someone as wonderful and special to me as Lance barefoot on a glorious beach is more than I could have dreamed of.”
Jillian Michaels and Heidi Rhoades
Famous personal trainer Jillian Michaels is openly lesbian. Her engagement to partner Heidi Rhoades is one that has never been suppressed in any way. Jillian proposed to Heidi in a movie theater after playing a wonderfully sweet video of the couple, and the rest is history. They have two children together and are enjoying their time as an engaged couple.
Louis Van Amstel and Joshua Lancaster
Louis Van Amstel is perhaps most known as a choreographer on Dancing with the Stars. His husband is his health coach, Joshua Lancaster. The two of them dated for four years before making it legal in January of 2017. It’s plain to see that the two are incredibly happy, and they seem to be a perfect match! It takes two to tango!

Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson is openly gay and very confident in his sexuality. His secret partner is his husband, actor Jason Landau. Rosie O’Donnell and Dana Schiff
Rosie O’Donnell is possibly the most widely-known lesbian in celebrity history. Not the least bit shy about her homosexuality, she publicly came out of the closet on her own show by exclaiming, “I’m a dyke!” Although her show tanked after that, she went on to marry two women, neither of which worked out in the end, and is now currently dating Dana Schiff.
Queen Latifah and Eboni Nichols
Queen Latifah hasn’t really discussed her relationships publicly, or even her sexuality. At the moment, she seems to be in a relationship with professional dancer Eboni Nichols. Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed or disproved, the photo says it all. How is that not a happy lesbian couple?
Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne
Standup comedian Tig Notaro has been a publicly known lesbian for quite some time now. She married actress and writer Stephanie Allynne in 2015 and they have been absolute lovebirds ever since. They have twin sons together and are enjoying being mothers.
Denis O’Hare and Hugo Redwood
Denis O’Hare is known for several characters he’s played, perhaps most notably on True Blood and American Horror Story. Openly homosexual, Denis married Hugo Redwood in 2011. The biracial couple are committed to their private life, and they adopted a son together, Declan.
David Hyde Pierce and Brian Hargrove
David Hyde Pierce is known for his famous character on Frasier, Dr. Niles Crane. He revealed his sexuality in 2007 when he announced his relationship with writer and producer Brian Hargrove. Today the two men are married and living happily ever after.
