Shoppers Turn Out In Record Numbers Over Black Friday Weekend

A record 196.7 million people shopped in stores and online from Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Federation.
According to the NRF, shoppers spent an average of $325 on holiday purchases over the weekend, up from $301 last year.
More than 122.7 million people visited brick-and-mortar stores over the holiday, up 17% from 2021 and marking a return to more in-person shopping since the start of the pandemic.
Nevertheless, online sales rose to a record $9.12 billion on Black Friday and $11.3 billion on Cyber Monday, according to Adobe Analytics.
The NRF said it expects sales for the entire holiday season, defined as Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, to increase 6–8% over 2021, reaching $942.6 billion to $960.4 billion.
